"I would walk 500 miles & I would walk 500 more...

...just to be the man who walked a 1,000 miles to end up at your door." 500 Miles by The Proclaimers.

We've been traveling a lot lately, and it's been so much fun! We flew out to my family and drove out to my husband's family, and next week we've got a little in-state road trip because of work (I get to shop and relax at coffee shops).

Road shot just past Llamy, NM.

So for the next few posts (after linkage trivia tomorrow, of course!) I'm going to post some of my favorite things about travelling - including some delightful new additions to my roadtrip arsenal.

"Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky...

...are like shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now." Airplanes by B.O.B.

A few weekends ago, we got to go see Thunder Over Louisville, which included a really neat airshow and AMAZING fireworks. Later I'll show the firework pictures (once they're edited). Some of the jets and such were really loud, and baby James kept freaking out in my tummy, poor baby. He does not like loud noises.

Sorry, I can't remember what any of these are - my husband could tell you, but he's at work. The baby was wiggling so much I was pretty proud of myself for even getting the pictures, because it was hard to hold the camera steady.

"Let's go fly a kite...

...and send it soaring!" Let's Go Fly A Kite from Walt Disney's Mary Poppins, performed by Glynis Johns, David Tomlinson, Dick Van Dyke and others.

On our anniversary we got to do one of my very favorite things in the whole world...fly a kite!!!

It was a lovely time - though I only lasted a little while before I wanted my nice bed and air conditioning and nausea medicine again, lol.

Fetching the kite from the car.

Ready for takeoff. (Nice little baby bump shot. :)
Flying!

Have ya'll gotten to enjoy spring yet? Any fun outings with your sweeties?

"Wont you get hip to this timely tip...

...Jack and take this California trip." Route 66 by Chuck Berry.

I was reading my sister's blog (as I often do) and I saw her talking about her "beach itch." I get the same thing, only for roadtrips. Or any trips, actually - I'm not choosy. Flying, driving, sailing--heck, I'll take a train. But I have been informed by The Powers That Be that until my endurance is up a little (meaning, I have to be able to last more than an hour awake at a time without throwing up) a trip will have to wait.

The Powers That Be also made some sort of comments about the President of the United States, gas prices, taxes, and a few other politically-driven issues. There might have been some spicy language involved.

I'm not completely sure, because I was falling asleep again.

"Now waking to the sun, I calculate what I had done...

...Like jumping from the bow, yeah, just to prove that I knew how, yeah." Into the Ocean by Blue October.

Hey lovelies!

Before I forget, today is a promotion over at Love Bottle (eco-friendly and stuff, but that's not why I love it...their water bottles are just SO CUTE?! And glass, so your water doesn't taste funny!) for 20% off plain glass (no design) water bottles. I love mine, I've had it for four or five years now, and it is the best water bottle ever. Apparently today is "World Water Day" (because...the amount of water in the world changes...? Hmm), so if you enter WWDSALE20 at checkout online, you get your discount on that blank bottle. So yes.

Now, some pictures from the lovely outing we took this week!

Historical Building. I'm told by Those Who Know (Daddy), that it was used as a hospital during the civil war, and you can still see bloodstains on the wooden floor.
Me & My Guy.
Pretty Lake View from the Dam.

The other side of the dam.

Spring!

Dramatic rock cut.
It was nice. I got to sit in the car (mostly) and take pictures, and get out and walk around when I felt like it. Ryan got me a sweet tea, and we had a nice restful little outing. Then we got back and had to gas up the car and we both nearly died at the price of gas.

Oh well.

"She's playing with her jewelry...

...she's putting up her hair.." Short Skirt Long Jacket by Cake.

Hello lovelies! How was your Superbowl Sunday? Ryan and I made a day of it adventuring and visiting one of our favorite restaurants (which happens to have lovely big TVs for watching sports) and I had to figure out what to wear.

The place we were going was kind of golf-course-wealthy-D.I.N.K.-ish (which is not our norm...), so I knew I wanted to be subtle but polished. Normally I'd do the pearls and pumps with jeans look, but I knew we'd be shopping all day and I didn't want to wear heels for the whole time...and long jeans get the hems dragged out if you wear flats with them, and short jeans look dumb with heels, and I wasn't feeling the skinny jeans and...yes, you see my dilemma.

This is not going to surprise any of you, but I adore metallics - clothes, shoes, and (obviously) jewelry! I was digging through possible options when, twinkling up at me from the shoe rack, were my well-worn copper-toned flats - and suddenly it all came together. The flats, matching purse, and awesome chunky copper-toned jewelry.  Viola!

It was Perfect! I fell in love with them all over again.

Naturally I kept the rest of the outfit fairly understated.

What did ya'll do this weekend? Did you love the Superbowl commercials?

"And if you have a minute why don't we go...

...talk about it somewhere only we know." Somewhere Only We Know by Keane

I've had a few fun adventures to tie up the old year, and get ready for the new!

I got to go see a very, very dear friend and her mother (also a very dear friend!) We had a lovely long afternoon reviewing the fashion choices of some of the patrons at a mall in Louisville, then a yummy dinner at the Cheesecake Factory!

We also have had a few outings as a family while Ryan's parents and sisters are here! I did a fun impromptu photo shoot with the sisters and we had a yummy chinese buffet experience.

The fam on the way to shop together!

Preview of the photo shoot--more coming soon!

Stay tuned for the full stories!

"I'm a new soul, I came to this strange world...

...hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take." New Soul by Yael Naim.

Off on an adventure today!!!

My beautiful niece, Meggles, adventuring in her new Christmas present from her Grandma.

Much love!

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

... everywhere you go." It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas by Perry Como

Does anyone else love Polaroids? I know they are terrible quality and really inferior to digital in every way but somehow...there's something incredibly charming about just a junky polaroid picture!

One of my favorite memories from childhood was when I was about four and we got to go see Santa, I think it was at Dillards in Santa Fe, and they took a polaroid of my sister and me and it was the very first time I'd ever seen one. I watched it magically develop before my very eyes, and in that moment polaroids were forever connected to the magic of Christmas.

Fast forward to now--and there is a delightful (free!) download that you can get called Poladroid. It's a fun little "virtual" polaroid camera!

So here's our fun family moments from this year in faux polaroids!

"We'll be playin' and havin' fun...

...on an island in the sun." Island In The Sun by Weezer.

The beachfront on Paarenbaai Bay, where the cruise ships dock.

Skyline of Oranjestad, Aruba.

Palms Beach, Aruba. Apparently it's second "best."

We were happy with it.

How I spent my time...
How Ryan spent his time...
Lunchtime! So many cute little huts with shops!

How unreal is that? The water was perfectly clear and warm and...it was perfect,

So yes. This was our trip! I'm almost certain there's a part of heaven that looks exactly like this. I didn't want to leave...my little heat-loving soul just enjoyed it so much!

Thanks for "joining" us on our trip! tomorrow we'll be back to normal posts.

"Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii's way...

...to say merry Christmas to you!" Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby.

Here is our lovely visit to Curacau.

Pretty little beach-front houses - they looked like toys!

On the front side, these boats were little shopping stalls, so they essentially
formed a "floating market."

The "Wedding Cake" house. Apparently all traditional wedding cakes are
modeled after this house.

Old slave houses, still lived in today.

The liquor that made this island famous.

The Curacao distillery.

Partying it up in Curacao!

Traditional kitchen - the locals swear up and down that the red-and-white
polka dots keep flies and mosquitos away
!

Next post is the final post - Aruba!!!
