...heavy metal thunder." Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf.

Happy Weekend, lovelies!

Double-decker kittehs. Irony's rolling her eyes at Izzy being such a ham.
I apologize for not getting this out sooner, but yesterday was definitely one of my worst morning-sick days so far (and by "morning sick" I mean "always sick".) I hope everybody enjoyed my sister's fun post the day before! I love it! I hope to feature some "sister posts" in the future, but that may have to wait until after the first trimester.

And here's a bonus picture because I feel bad about being a day late with this post.

Izzy passed out with Tigger. I, meanwhiles, read the entire Harry Potter series this week as I was too tired to do anything useful.
Speaking of Harry Potter, I am amazed at some of the beautiful themes Rowling wove into the story so seamlessly - truths and lessons so integral to goodness in the created order that, even such a godless universe as the Harry Potter universe, cannot be escaped. Things like loyalty, sacrifice, friendship, forgiveness, remorse for evil, and a true hero protecting those weaker than himself. I do not agree or endorse everything Harry Potter...but Rowling certainly has my respect as an author. I wish I could write that well.

And now, to the part everyone has been waiting for...

Important historical fact of today among other things: on this day in 1815 the first commercial cheese factory was established, in Switzerland.  (A History of Cheese, if you care. Because apparently someone does.)

"I'm free as a song...

...singing forever." Only Yesterday by the Carpenters.

Happy Monday, lovelies!

Today I am super excited to introduce you to two of my favorite-ever internet discoveries! I definitely think these are someone's scathingly brilliant inspiration!

Gogee
Gogee.com

Gogee is AMAZING. Whenever I don't know what I want for dinner, or what to make from what I have, I hop on and enter what I have. It's free to set up an account, and it remembers things you dislike or settings like "vegetarian." So far, we've loved all the recipes on it! I'm trying a pulled pork one later this week...

tubalr
Tubalr.com

For those of us who crave simplicity, this searches youtube for artists or bands on youtube and then takes away all the ads and clutter and simply leaves you with the youtube. You can search for only that artist or similar artists. The "similar" button has introduced me to some new favorites!

Enjoy exploring the new "toys"!

Love!

Friday, January 20, 2012

"I walked across an empty land...

Friday, January 13, 2012

"The man that hath no music in himself...

...nor is not mov'd with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils." The Merchant of Venice, Act V, Scene i by William Shakespeare. (I'm currently listening to Chopin's Nocturne No. 1 in B flat minor, to which there are no lyrics, so you get Shakespeare instead.)

Which also puts me in mind of a quote my family uses often:

"I'm dying, Egypt, dying!" (Marc Antony in Anthony and Cleopatra, IV:15)

This quote is much more useful than one would think. (Or perhaps we simply thrive off non sequiturs. It's hard to tell.)

Irony has trouble getting her tail to sit still for bath-time.
So anyway, it's the end of the week already! I've gotten nothing useful done, just been doing laundry and meeting with people who I hadn't seen since before Christmas and family and company. Next week I will hit the myriad of small things that have been saving up to get done. I literally did laundry all day for four days to catch up from the complete lack thereof from the break. Phew!

Aaaaaaaaand hnow........(drumroll please).........
