All of the sudden...

...Life hits you with one of its ironies.

For example: suppose someone (no one in particular, of course) just broke up with a totally wonderful guy, not because of a fight, or any of the normal break up reasons you see in books, but because they agreed it was the right thing to do. From the world's perspective, there was no reason to break up with him. He's smart, good-looking, and pleasant. From her perspective he's a great guy, and very easy to get along with and hang with. But they were stunting eachother's growth, and the Lord was leading them in different directions, so they broke up... after a year of building the friendship and six months of courtship. And it hurt, yes it did. ("Cuz breakin' up is hard to do, oh I know, I know that it's true...")

Talk about irony. The day these-two-random-and-hypothetical-people decided to break up happened to be September 2, and she being on top of the game as always had not turned her calendar from August to September yet. So when she came up to her room from talking to him, She tried to cheer herself up by getting back to the normal everyday things one must do to survive. And so she turned the calendar from a nice, sedate, safe "Little Mermaid" to "Cinderella dancing with Prince Charming." Ouch.

Isn't life ironic?

P.S. I am reminded of the part in Emperor's New Groove where Yzma says to Kronk, "It's called a 'cruel irony'--much like my dependence on you."
